The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) is a member of the Association for Collaborative Leadership, which is an educational, research and professional organization dedicated to developing leadership capabilities and advancing higher education collaboration. ACL is holding its 2019 annual conference on October 16-18 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and hosted by the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges.
The theme of this year’s conference is Communication, Collaboration, and Community: Looking Toward the Future. The conference schedule itself is robust with speakers from diverse consortia and member colleges and universities addressing a full range of collaborative efforts. On behalf of COACHE, we invite you to participate in the conference and/or the pre-conference workshop.
The pre-conference workshop will focus on change management, featuring a workshop taking place on Wednesday, October 16 from 12pm-4pm. This workshop will focus on the principles of change management, overcoming challenges associated with change management, and integrating these practices into consortia work.
Participants return to the ACL meeting year after year to take advantage of networking, access to information and immediately useful ideas and approaches, and for the opportunity to discuss the challenges and rewards of higher education collaboration with others who understand the work.
A formal schedule will be forthcoming, but the topics to be explored include different aspects of communities of practice, managing external partnerships, maximizing resources through shared purchasing, managing board and leadership relationships, academic collaborative opportunities, and more.
